AI for Planned Giving Professionals

Responsible AI education for people doing some of fundraising’s most complex relationship work.

Planned giving professionals work with deeply personal donor information, long relationship histories, and complicated institutional environments. AI can make that work sharper. It can also create real privacy, trust, and judgment problems. This series teaches professionals how to use AI without outsourcing the expertise that makes planned giving work.

Use AI to improve the work. Keep human judgment in charge.

The learning arc

From professional judgment to program growth

The series moves deliberately from the individual professional to the individual donor, then outward to the planned giving program as a system.

01
You + AI

Professional judgment, stakeholder trust, personal red lines, and green lights.

02
One donor

Better preparation for consequential gift conversations and stronger synthesis of donor history.

03
The program

Portfolio intelligence, prospect prioritization, and program-level opportunity.

04
Communication

Using AI while protecting the specificity and humanity of the donor relationship.

The workshop series

Four core sessions

01

AI + Stakeholder Trust for Planned Giving Professionals

Build a practical foundation for responsible AI use in planned giving while protecting donor information and organizational data.

Participants identify their own personal AI red lines and green lights. They consider where they want AI involved in their professional lives, where they do not, and what requires more thought.

That work continues after the session through our Personal AI Policy Interview, which guides each participant through the decisions behind a personal AI policy they can use at work.

02

AI for Individual Donor Research + Gift Conversations

This session stays entirely at the individual donor level.

Participants use AI to synthesize contact reports and donor history so they can enter important conversations with a clearer understanding of what happened before and what they still need to learn.

We also use AI to prepare non-fundraisers joining consequential donor conversations. A president, board member, dean, physician, or other institutional leader can understand the donor relationship and their role without reading a 14-page briefing no one is going to read.

03

AI for Planned Giving Program Growth

This session moves from one donor to the systemic view of the planned giving program.

We examine how AI can analyze activity across a portfolio, identify where opportunity may be concentrated, improve prospect prioritization, and strengthen the planned giving pipeline.

Predictive tools and modeling fit here too. Participants learn what they can tell us at scale, where the data can deceive us, and how experienced planned giving judgment should shape the decisions that follow.

04

AI for Planned Giving Communication

Use AI to improve donor communication without flattening the human relationship at the center of planned giving.

Participants work with stewardship, proposals, follow-up, donor education, and message development. We examine where AI improves communication and where it makes your writing sound like absolutely everyone else on the internet.

Optional Session 5 — Building AI Agents for Planned Giving

This advanced, hands-on session is for participants who already feel comfortable working with AI.

Planned giving experts design agents around work they do repeatedly, including meeting preparation, relationship-history synthesis, program analysis, and internal briefings specific to their organizations.

We start at the agent-design level rather than re-teaching basic prompting.

Application

Office hours keep the learning going

Participants bring questions, experiments, concerns, and use cases from their own organizations. Office hours give the group a place to work through the inevitable “Okay, but what about THIS?” questions that surface once people start applying what they learned.

Fundraising depth meets serious AI practice

Anne Murphy, founder of Empowered Fundraiser Consulting

Anne Murphy brings 35 years as a lead fundraiser, more than 10,000 donor visits, and experience leading major and principal gift work in successful campaigns totaling more than $10 billion.

She advises nonprofits and higher education on responsible AI adoption, governance, and practical integration. She also founded She Leads AI, where she leads advanced AI education and community for women.

Anne does not approach AI as a substitute for judgment. She teaches professionals to understand what AI can do, where it can fail, and what trust requires in high-stakes donor work.

Bring this to your planned giving community

This program works especially well for planned giving councils, professional associations, and advancement teams that want a shared approach to responsible AI use.

We can talk through who should participate and what you want them to be able to do differently afterward.
