Run Your Own Fundraising Campaign

A six-session Empowered Fundraiser working series with Anne Murphy, for the organization that will lead its own fundraising and donor engagement campaign.

The problem

You have been handed a fundraising campaign. The board approved the project, the goal is set, and the fundraising is now yours to run. Full campaign counsel costs more than the budget allows.

The solution

Six working sessions where you build your fundraising campaign plan with Anne, piece by piece. You bring your own prospects and your own board, and across the series you build the gift table, sort the pipeline, put research and time-saving strategies to work, write the board plan, and get coached on the ask before you make it.

You leave with a living draft your organization will run. The series draws on Anne's facilities campaign experience and shapes around your organization — your donors, your board, your number.

You arrive having been handed a fundraising campaign you never ran. You leave leading it.

This is for you if

  • Your budget cannot bring on counsel to run the whole campaign
  • You have the bandwidth to lead it yourself, or a staff member who can
  • You have donors to start from, even a short list — and it is okay if you do not have prospects yet. You will build the list as you go

What we will cover

1

Readiness and the Number

Build a draft gift table from your own prospects, with a fast read on your board and your case for support. You leave knowing whether your number is reachable before you commit to it.

2

The Pipeline

Sort your donors into waves by readiness, separating what a donor can give from how close the relationship is. You leave with a clear answer to who you see first.

3

Prospect Research

Learn deep-dive prospect research that respects your donors, and draft a first donor communication in your own voice, sized to your team — with the donor-data care that comes before any tool.

+

Working session

Review how the sections are coming together, address any roadblocks.

4

The Board

Build a board activation plan with giving tiers and named roles, using the JET principles and the open-doors reframe, so board members introduce and steward instead of dreading the ask.

5

The Solicitation

Prep a visit you have coming up and role-play the ask, coached live, with language for when a donor hesitates. You leave with a visit brief and ask language for your next solicitations.

6

The Plan and the Launch

Assemble everything from the prior sessions into one written campaign plan, with a 90-day launch checklist and the policies every campaign needs, including how your annual fund runs alongside the campaign without competing.

+

Campaign plan presentation

Present your finished campaign plan and get final feedback, so you are ready to take it to your board and lead it.

What we will accomplish

Final deliverable

One written fundraising campaign plan, built piece by piece across the series and presented for final feedback — a living draft your organization will run. You implement the plan you create with Anne.

Your counsel

Anne Murphy is CEO of Empowered Fundraiser Consulting, serving as fundraising campaign counsel for the eight- and nine-figure third spaces that foster democracy, belonging, and collective resilience — with 35 years of experience and more than $10 billion in fundraising campaigns across nonprofit and higher education. She is co-author of the Framework for Responsible AI in Fundraising, bringing responsible AI practice directly into fundraising counsel.

The investment

$10,000–$15,000

The full six-session series. It sits well below full campaign counsel, because you are paying for the teaching and the plan.
